Liverpool star John Aldridge has acknowledged that he does not feel the Reds can reduce the Premier League title gap on Manchester City this season.

In January, Pep Guardiola's side had a 14-point advantage at the top of the Premier League table. Liverpool has closed the gap on Manchester City to just one point after two months. With only nine games left to play this season, the Premier League title race might come down to a picture finish. If the Reds beat Watford in their first game after the international break on April 2nd, they will finish ahead of the Citizens. When asked about how things have changed since January, Aldridge said that he did not anticipate Jurgen Klopp's team to be in the title race. As the season draws to a close, the Liverpool legend believes his team is 'a step or two' ahead of their opponents. In his Sunday world column, he said:

"If Liverpool beat Watford in their next Premier League match following the international break, they will leapfrog City, adding a new dimension to this [title race] drama." When City was 11 points ahead not long ago, I didn't think the title race could be reignited, but I was wrong. Liverpool has had a great run of form to get back into the mix, and they are certainly a step or two ahead of City at the moment." If Liverpool beat Watford at Anfield in their next meeting, Klopp's side might take the lead in the title race. Manchester City, on the other hand, may reclaim first place in the table if they beat Burnley at Turf Moor that same evening.

The match between Liverpool and Manchester City might decide the Premier League title.

On April 10, the Reds and Citizens will meet. In what could be the most critical encounter in the Premier League title chase, Pep Guardiola's side will face the Merseyside-based club at the Etihad Stadium.

Both clubs will meet in the FA Cup semi-finals next month. Manchester City and Jurgen Klopp's team will compete for a place in the final at Wembley Stadium.

This season, the two clubs are still contenders for the UEFA Champions League. In the quarter-finals, Pep Guardiola's team will face Atletico Madrid, while Liverpool will face Benfica.
