The Ministry of Roads and Highways recently stated that the Tamale Interchange project was carried out in compliance with the ministry's standards and specifications.

It stated that the bridge was built to last 100 years and that the design had gone through a thorough approval process before being put into place.

The guarantee came in response to concerns on the Tamale Interchange made by Minority Leader and Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale South, Mr Haruna Iddrisu.

The upper layer of the 99 percent completed project has been asphalted, and it is expected to open to traffic soon.

The Tamale Interchange, which is the first of its kind in Northern Ghana, was 60 percent complete as of January 31, 2022.

The interchange was supposed to be finished by July 31 this year, barring any unforeseen circumstances, according to authorities.

The interchange connects the route leading from the Dakpema Palace to (Point 7) road, the Central Taxi Rank and Central Market crossroads, and the Sakasaka road, and is roughly one kilometer long.

The retaining walls for both the northern and southern sections of the interchange, as well as the piles under bridge works and pile caps under the bridge, have all been completed, while the piers under bridge works and box girder are nearly finished.
