Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a Member of Parliament (MP) from North Tongu, has contributed two months' salary to the National Service Scheme (NSS) District Office.

According to him, the salary, which covers January and February 2022, is his small contribution to the constituency's 87 NSS staff.

Mr Ablakwa's intervention comes as rumours circulate that employees have yet to receive their three-month wages.

He proclaimed his good deed in a Facebook post, adding that he distributed the funds on Tuesday morning.

The MP stated that the Scheme's Director has assured him that all staff have received their direct Mobile Money (MoMo) remittances.

He lamented, "I sincerely wish I was in a position to do more to help these loyal personnel who gladly chose to serve their country in my primarily rural sacred district."

In light of this, he has urged the government to expedite the payment of any outstanding arrears to the personnel.

"In all seriousness, the pitiful allowances of national service personnel should not be overlooked whenever public sector workers' monthly earnings are processed for payment," he said.
