CHELSEA FANS slammed under-fire defender Harry Maguire after spotting him in England's training camp.
After battling for form with Manchester United this season, Harry Maguire has had a difficult time. And it appears that the defender isn't immune to abuse at the international level, as he was targeted on social media by Chelsea fans while on international duty with England.
Ralf Rangnick has demoted the United captain on several occasions this season due to his poor record at club level. He did, however, start their last three games against Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Atletico Madrid.
Maguire, who cost £80 million from Leicester City in 2019 – a world record sum for a defender — has been linked with a move away from United. With a new permanent manager due to be appointed at the end of the season, the Red Devils appear to be in for a summer revamp.
After being called up by manager Gareth Southgate for friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast, the 29-year-old joined up with the England squad this week. Despite receiving a mixed welcome from United fans recently, it appears he has kept the Three Lions manager's support.

Southgate added, "I don't think it ever occurred to us not to select Harry Maguire for this squad." "He was an important member of the starting XI that helped us reach the World Cup semi-final and the European Championship final."
However, as photographs from England's training camp at St George's Park surfaced on social media, Maguire has been exposed to even more criticism and derision. Maguire can be seen in one image attempting to tackle Chelsea's Mason Mount, only to completely miss the ball and risk harming his 23-year-old teammate.
Despite the fact that the image appeared to be harmless, supporters slammed Maguire's form and questioned his status in the team. "Dr. Slabhead is at it again," one Reddit user remarked, referring to Maguire's former teammate Jamie Vardy's nickname for him. "How was he even selected?" wrote Umar Shaikh. He's been a disaster since the beginning."

"Just hope he doesn't destroy any of his England teammates during training," one Chelsea supporter remarked, while another said, "Called this clown up instead of Tomori who's at the top of his league."
The reaction to Maguire's tackle, though, was not all negative. Several fans maintained that Maguire's attempts to win the ball were genuine, citing Maguire's outstanding international form as justification for his continued inclusion in the England squad.
"I mean, I'm not a fan of Maguire, but he's clearly attempting to win the ball here and has just been beaten to it by Mount," one user said. In football and training, this happens all the time. And it isn't just about Maguire." Another Reddit user echoed their sentiments, saying, "As far as I can remember, he's always done well for England, same to [Jordan] Pickford."
Regardless of their feelings, Mount did not sustain any significant injuries, and both players are still in contention to play in the friendly. After seeing the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Reece James withdraw due to injury, Southgate will be hoping that remains the case.
