2021 AFCON winners Senegal have enplaned to Cairo ahead of the first instalment of the two-legged World Cup play-offs against Egypt. The Teranga Lions will be hoping to reach the Mundial for the third time in their history after previous appearances in the 2002 and 2018 editions. Senegal will have to accomplish this difficult mission at the expense of seven-time African champions, Egypt over a two-legged tie with the first instalment slated for March 25 while the reverse tie has been scheduled four days later.

Coach Aliou Cisse named a 26-man squad for the showdown, largely staying faithful with the players that helped him attain the Holy Grail in Cameroon earlier this year.

In a photo posted on Twitter, spotted by Sports Brief, players of the Senegalese national team gleefully smiled at the camera as they were captured en route to Cairo from Moroccan city, Marrakech.

Senegal has been boosted by the arrival of Africa Cup of Nations best player Sadio Mané ahead of the mouthwatering FIFA World Cup play-off clash against Egypt. The Liverpool star joined his teammates in Marrakech, Morocco, as the Teranga Lions begin training for the big game on Friday.

In photos posted on Twitter, spotted by Sports Brief, several of the Senegalese players from AFCON have arrived as preparations continue before their trip to Cairo.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that players of the Senegalese national football team arrived in Marrakech like champions en-route to Cairo for their World Cup play-off against Egypt.

A batch of ten players including Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and Bayern Munich's Bouna Sarr touched down in the Moroccan city on Sunday. The rest of the team are expected to arrive on Tuesday before the team continues its journey to Egypt for the big game.
