Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Kusaug Traditional Area in the Upper East Region have demanded that three police officers be detained immediately for their suspected involvement in the assassination of Issahaku Abdulai, a 37-year-old man, at Bawku.
The three officers are accused of breaking into the deceased's home in Buabula during a sweep and shooting him to death.
During a fact-finding mission, Bawku Central MP Mahama Ayariga branded the three police officers' actions as unprofessional and demanded that they be sanctioned.
Residents whose property was vandalized by security officers in the neighborhood were also entitled to compensation, he said.
The cops broke into a residence, took someone out, and shot him in front of his wife. They want justice, and I told them that we had already brought the situation to the attention of the Regional Police Command.
"We've informed the Military and Divisional Commands." They claimed three police officers arrived at the house, so we are demanding that all three cops be arrested and investigated to find out precisely what happened."
At least 14 individuals have died, with dozens others injured, including three military members.
The MPs' mission includes, among other things, determining the amount of the damage inflicted by the disturbances and deliberating on strategies to restore long-term peace.
