An Adentan Circuit Court condemned a steel bender to 15 years in prison for robbing a sick woman of her purse carrying her prescription, GHC60.00, mobile phone, and Voter Identity Card.
When the incident occurred, the victim was believed to be on his way home from the hospital.
Kweku Okyere, 27, pleaded guilty to robbery charges.
Mrs Sedinam Awo Balokah presided over the court, which found him guilty on his own plea.
Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo, prosecuting, stated that Ruby Afrim, the complainant and a trader, lives in Shiashie, while the accused, now a convict, lives in Madina.
Mr Okyere abruptly attacked and held the complainant's handbag at Shiashie bus stop on March 16, 2022, at about 18:30 hours, according to Chief Inspector Lanyo.
According to the prosecution, the two got into a fight, and Mr Okyere pushed the complainant into a nearby gutter. Mr Okyere stole the complainant's luggage and inflicted minor injuries on her forehead.
The prosecution claims that the complainant's bag included GHC60.00, a cellphone, a voter ID card, and prescription medications.
According to the prosecution, three street boys peddling along the road noticed the accused from a distance.
