Ghanaians may want to see the Black Stars represent at this 2022 Qatar World Cup, but at what cost? This is the bigger question people have tried to answer ever since the national team disgraced the country at the just-ended African Cup of Nations. Is it a win-win for Ghana irrespective of the results tomorrow?

After our abysmal display in Cameroon, we postponed the postmortem and a chance to recoup our lost mojo in order to focus on this upcoming match against Nigeria. Per what have transpired, it is no doubt we would overlook the matter until we hit another rock. This is why, for a massive overhaul in our national teams, some Ghanaians wish the Black Stars fail to secure a slot at the World Cup.

Black Stars host Super Eagles at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium tomorrow for the first leg of the final hurdle to the World Cup. Should Nigeria win this match, the whole country will begin to revisit what happened at the AFCON, how leaders have dealt with events and the plan for our future in the sports industry.

We’ll be happy if the Black Stars qualify, but the consequences seem plaguing. For the sake of our footballing future, Nigeria should discipline the team before our own eyes, uncover every loophole and gauge us on our proper level. That way, no citizen will support quick patches from authorities. They’ll long for a functioning, developing and progressive measure to save Ghana football again.
