Sammy Gyamfi, the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) National Communications Officer, has won the bragging rights after winning a bet on the Finance Minister.

Mr Gyamfi bet Collins Adomako-Mensah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Afigya Kwabre North, that Ken Ofori-Atta would wear a white kaftan and use Biblical quotations in his speech.

Mr Adomako-Mensah agreed with Mr Gyamfi on the white outfit, but he questioned Mr Gyamfi on the Biblical inspiration.

"We have repeatedly listened to the Finance Minister, who is always clad in white." Today's narrative will not be any different. He'll return in his white kaftan, reading bible scriptures and inspirational phrases, and everything else that we don't care about.

The counsel for the NDC teased that the quote would come from Nehemiah.

He, on the other hand, lost the penultimate bid, when Mr Ken Ofori-Atta referenced Jeremiah rather than Jeremiah in his speech on Thursday.

True to Sammy Gyamfi's word, the Finance Minister included two lines in his speech: one from Jeremiah 29:7, "Seek the peace and prosperity of our nation." Pray to the Lord for it, for if it succeeds, you will succeed as well.'

He also prayed for peace within the walls of Parliament and sobriety within its towers, paraphrasing Psalm 122:7.
