The Akufo-Addo administration has no plans to reverse its signature Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.

This was said in the Finance Minister's briefing on government initiatives to address current economic issues.

President Akufo-government, Addo's according to Ken Ofori-Atta, has no intention of reversing any key program, including the free SHS.

Education, he believes, is the most effective facilitator factor for long-term economic growth and transformation, as well as social mobility.

A number of appeals have recently been made to the government by the Minority and other institutions to discontinue its flagship initiative.

The opposition claims that the Free SHS is causing greater harm to Ghana's economy and is contributing to the current hardships that the average Ghanaian is experiencing.

The MPs also noted that it would be prudent for the government to invest the large sums of money invested in the policy in other productive areas of the economy.

Analysts believe that a reassessment of the Free SHS is the best answer.

To bring the saga to a close, the Finance Minister stated that the Free SHS will not be terminated or suspended, but that additional efforts would be made to strengthen it in order to better serve the people.
