Ahead of the Black Stars World Cup qualifier with Nigeria, playwright and CEO of Roverman Productions has entreated the national team to give off their best in order to win back the love Ghanaians have for the team.

He believes in spite of the disappointments Ghanaians still have a soft spot for the national team and the only way to mend the broken hearts and make up for all the disappointments is by winning today’s game.

“Our hope is that the team redeems itself,” he said on JoyFM’s Super Morning Show on Friday.

Fews hours to the epic clash between Ghana and Nigeria in the World Cup first leg playoff at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, the euphoria around the match is high across the country, especially in the Ashanti regional capital.

The National Sports Authority (NSA) says the Baba Yara Stadium is set for the crucial match after meeting conditions by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

“In terms of the requirements of CAF and FIFA regarding Baba Yara Sports Stadium, it is over ninety per cent complete. So we are ready for the match,” GFA Vice President, Mark Addo said on Thursday.

Security in the city has also been beefed up. Soccer fans are enthusiastic about enjoying a good match Friday evening but JoyNews has gathered that some Ghanaians in Kumasi are rooting for the Nigerian National team.

It has emerged that these supporters have lost hope in the national team following the series of disappointments from the losses in various games.

Uncle Ebo believes all hope is not lost as those who have expressed disappointment are only reacting from pain.

“It’s just a challenge they’ve thrown to the team. None of those people will support Nigeria that day under normal circumstances. It’s just letting our people know we’re disappointed; we’re in pain from the large disappointments.

“It’s like you go with your boyfriend to a party and he’s annoyed you. To get back at him, you look for another boy who, under normal circumstances, you would never talk to, but you suddenly pretend as if you are all into him just because you want to get back at him.

“And when the national team does not do well, it brings up all the other headaches we have in the nation, but our hope is that the team redeems itself,” he stressed.
