Manchester United are interested in hiring ERIK TEN HAG and Mauricio Pochettino as managers.
According to former Manchester United striker Mark Hughes, Mauricio Pochettino has a significant lead over Erik ten Hag in the contest to become the club's next manager. United conducted an interview with Ten Hag earlier this week as part of their search for a new manager.
The Ajax manager is one of the frontrunners to become United's next permanent manager. Pochettino, on the other hand, has been a long-term objective for United, dating back to his stint as manager of Tottenham Hotspur.
With the exception of a couple of years at Bayern Munich's reserve squad between 2013 and 2015, Ten Hag has only managed in Holland. Pochettino has now coached in three nations and has nearly seven years of Premier League experience under his belt.
If Ten Hag and Pochettino are the two main candidates, Hughes believes such information might be crucial in United's selection. "There is no other league in the world like the Premier League," Hughes told Sports News.

"Obviously, the level of the play is same, but I believe the intensity of the games is different." If you've never participated in [the competition], either as a player or as a manager, I believe it will take you by surprise, and you may suffer a time of transition where you're not sure what's hit you, because it's such a different level.
"So you can see the appeal of Pochettino coming in because he is familiar with the Premier League and its strengths, but there are other examples of foreign coaches who have come in and hit the ball running."
United hasn't won a trophy in five years and is fighting for a top-four finish this season. According to Hughes, it's critical that they get their next appointment properly.

He continued, " "Because Man United is one of the best jobs in the world, there will be a lot of individuals submitting their CVs in the hopes of getting a call. I haven't had mine yet, but it's there!
"United is going through a difficult period right now, and it's not easy for everyone connected to the club, so they need to get this one right. It's a big job, and you're hoping that all of the due diligence and interviews they're doing right now will lead to them hiring the appropriate person."
