ERLING HAALAND is said to have turned down Manchester City's offer of a £500,000-per-week contract.

This summer, the Borussia Dortmund sensation is reportedly available for £64 million, with a slew of clubs vying for his services.

Manchester City is one of them, but Haaland is said to have turned down a bid from the Premier League champions last week.

AS reports from Spain. Haaland's agent Mino Raiola and father Alfe-Inge were presented with a "huge offer" from City, but his entourage turned it down.

Although Haaland's rejection of City is thought to be "not conclusive," he might yet join Pep Guardiola's team.

Haaland was warming to the notion of following in his father's footsteps and joining City, according to Sunsport earlier this month.

However, in a setback for City, AS reports that Haaland's chosen destination is still Real Madrid.

Haaland is claimed to be "waiting" for the LaLiga team to make a decision since he wants to join the club at the end of the current season.

Although the staggering expenditures of transporting Haaland to the Spanish capital have thrown a wrench in the plans. With Paris Saint-Germain starlet Kylian Mbappe due to arrive at the end of the season, Real Madrid would prefer to wait until the summer of 2023 to sign Haaland. Haaland's injury record also concerns the 13-time Champions League champions.

The Norwegian international has 80 goals in 82 outings for Dortmund, although he has only made 17 Bundesliga appearances this season due to injuries. And Madrid are well aware of what it's like to spend a lot of money on a player just to have them suffer an injury, as both Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard have done. Nonetheless, City and Real Madrid are still in the race.

According to El Chiringuito, his transfer fee, plus a sizable commission bonus for his agent Raiola, any deal will cost around £170 million.

That's before Haaland's wage expectations are taken into account.
