According to talkSPORT, Manchester United made the 'worst signing in history' when they brought Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford because of how much they paid for him.
According to Anthony Crolla, a former boxer and ardent Red Devils supporter, the club is doing "absolutely horrible business."
Pogba
Pogba's tumultuous time at Man United could be coming to an end shortly.
When Pogba's contract expires this summer, he is expected to leave Old Trafford for the second time, with several clubs throughout Europe interested in his talents.
In 2012, the Frenchman departed Manchester United for Juventus in a £1.5 million transfer.
After an excellent tenure in Italy, United decided to bring him back four years later for a world-record fee of £89 million.
The massive deal, however, has not gone as planned for the club or the player, as the midfielder is ready to go for free after failing to agree on a new contract.
Pogba started well after his return to United, winning two titles and scoring in the Europa League final in his first season, but he hasn't been able to display the qualities that drew United to bring him in from Juventus, nor has he played frequently for his country.
Pogba's inability to justify his price tag has been attributed to the club's choice to originally let him depart, then re-sign him, and now let him walk for free.
Pogba has won the Europa League and the League Cup
Pogba has won the Europa League and the League Cup since his return to the club in 2016, but is yet to win another trophy.
Former WBA lightweight champion Anthony Crolla, a major Manchester United supporter, said on talkSPORT's Weekend Sports Breakfast: "I think I speak for Manchester United fans, or most anyone with a pair of eyes really, you've got to think Paul."
"It's insane to let a guy go, then sign him back for £90 million, and then let him walk on a free transfer again."
"You can't help but say it's been absolutely horrible business, no matter what you think about how he hasn't produced for the club and certain things that have been stated throughout his term at the club."
Fernandes
Fernandes had a fantastic start to his Manchester United career, but has recently struggled to maintain his form.
After that, the former boxer compared Pogba to Bruno Fernandes, who is due to sign a new five-year contract with the club, stating he's been one of the club's best additions in years.
"Some people will think of Bruno [Fernandes], but he's been one of the best additions we've had in recent years," he continued.
"I know his form is a little shaky right now, but he carried us that season [2020/21]."
"In my opinion, one is Manchester United, while the other isn't really Manchester United; he's a one-off."
