Despite the Spanish club's well-documented financial troubles, Barcelona is allegedly considering making an ambitious approach for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.

According to Spanish media, Lewandowski's contract with Bayern Munich expires next year, and Barcelona is willing to spend up to €60 million for a player who will turn 34 in August.

Barcelona have switched their attention to the Polish star after admitting that they would not be able to sign Borussia Dortmund's top target Erling Haaland due to budgetary constraints, according to Marca.

Barca are aiming to get Lewandowski for €50 million because his agent, Pini Zahavi, is a friend of president Joan Laporta, according to Sport.

After reluctantly giving up on Haaland, who is rumored to be joining Manchester City in the summer, Lewandowski is thought to be one of the choices being explored by Barcelona.

Mohamed Salah of Liverpool has been linked with a move to Barcelona as a replacement for the Norwegian wonderkid.

Bayern Munich has yet to offer Lewandowski a new contract despite his remarkable 45 goals in 37 games in all competitions this season

Barcelona believes Lewandowski, regarded as one of the best players in the world, can play at the elite level for a few more years.

Lewandowski joined Bayern Munich from Dortmund in 2014, scoring 234 goals in 246 games for the Bundesliga heavyweights.

During his illustrious career, he has won nine Bundesliga titles, seven for Bayern and two for Dortmund, as well as the Champions League.
