THE LAMP DEVOTION
1 Corinthians 2:13-16 13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. 16 For “who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
The church today is at a point where she is confronted with choosing to listen to the philosophers of this world or simply listening to the Holy Spirit. Having knowledge and information about what is happening in this world and debating the issues has taken centre stage, and the people who engage in these are recognized as the wise men of this world. They hold high degrees and speak using terminologies they must explain for you to know what they mean. I do not look down on such, but the truth is that the wisdom of God is not subject to any of the arguments and scenarios presented by the wisdom of the world. Occasionally their wisdom stumbles on God’s wisdom and we all get blessed.
Oftentime, when there is a disagreement, they want us to take their own and leave God’s . That is not workable. The average Christian who has the mind of Christ, is in better position to respond to issues in this life than the most formally educated persons whose thinking is at loggerheads with the mind of Christ. With the mind of Christ, we can always see the difference between what is acceptable and what to reject outright. Always put on the mind of Christ.
Prayer
1. Celebrate God whose wisdom is far above every wisdom any man puts out there.2. Pray that you will never be intimidated by anyone who uses words you don’t understand to confuse you about wisdom. 3. Father, continually fill me with Your wisdom from above.
Declarations
I declare that I fear God and I yield to His will and His commandments. By these, I declare I am a wise person. My wisdom is above the wisdom of the world because it is imparted to me from above. Any wisdom that confronts the wisdom from above I ignore, and I declare that I will evaluate all that I hear with the mind of Christ which is the word of God in the name of Jesus.
