Despite his club's troubles, Manchester United defender Luke Shaw acknowledged his excitement in playing for England.
Luke Shaw celebrates leveling the score in England's match against Switzerland.
After scoring in England's 2-1 friendly win over Switzerland, a number of Manchester United fans have accused Luke Shaw of being "disrespectful" during a post-match interview.
For the Three Lions, the full-back had a mixed performance. Breel Embolo scored the game's first goal after standing off Xherdan Shaqiri, who produced a cross that the Swiss forward met emphatically to make it 1-0. However, in first-half stoppage time, the United player made one for his gaffe by slamming in the equalizer.
Shaw was questioned on his differing performances for club and country, and he expressed his delight at meeting up with his England colleagues. He stated, " "You always appreciate the environment that Gareth creates here. When I come here, I think it's all about having fun and playing games with a smile on my face.
"I usually do that when I come here, we all adore playing for our nation," she says. Later, he added: "Everyone, I believe, does. It's critical to feel wanted at all times.
"That's how I always feel, especially here. I'm not saying I don't enjoy my football at United, but especially here, the way things are, I feel desired."
Shaw's words drew criticism from some United supporters. This is how they expressed themselves on Twitter.
"Luke Shaw giving us a bit of a battering in his post game presser," says tedtrottalong.
"So Luke Shaw enjoys playing for England," writes Carpente7Paul. When representing his country, he has a cheerful attitude and plays with a smile on his face. United, on the other hand, definitely stinks. United only pays your fucking money, thanks Luke Shaw. How can you come out and say that? Wow."
"ManUtd DMBarnes95 Luke Shaw should be fined for that interview; if you can't enjoy playing for Manchester United, there are millions who can."
"Lol Luke Shaw doesn't like it at United," says paulottey.

zeleLUHG: zeleLUHG: zeleLUHG:Man United fans, he claims, are too dismissive of him, and he intends to demonstrate what he can accomplish for England. He basically stated that he is too good for us."
Others, in agreement with the United defender, chose a different approach. Here is what they had to say.
JonnyWharton: Anyone have any thoughts on Luke Shaw's post-match interview? Obviously a dig at United, but why is he being questioned after an England game?
LPodengo: The interview with Luke Shaw reveals how dismal things are at United right now. Our online fandom has a significant influence on our players.
TabrejaliAdam: Manchester United's Luke Shaw was quizzed on the subject. At the very least, he's being forthright about the club's present climate. It's fine for fans to discuss the team, but "how dare he?" says the player. Stop wasting your time.
