Timo Werner, a striker for Chelsea and Germany, has stated that he feels more at ease representing his country than when he plays for the Blues. Since arriving at Stamford Bridge from RB Leipzig in 2020, the 26-year-old striker has fallen short of expectations.
Werner has struggled to replicate his finest form at the Premier League club, and has come in for a lot of flak when he hasn't scored. However, he and Chelsea teammate Kai Havertz both scored in Germany's 2-0 win over Israel on Saturday.
"I'm a striker who constantly wants to score," he explained. Things at Chelsea aren't going as well as I'd want, so it's all the more fortunate that things are doing well here under Hansi Flick. "I have a lot of fun playing football, no matter where I am. Football at Chelsea differs from football here in terms of style of play.
"Perhaps the one with the national team is a better fit for me."
I always have scoring opportunities here, and I can score goals. I'm at ease in this environment."
