Trevoh Chalobah and Kai Havertz have both been nominated for the March EA Sports Premier League Player of the Month award.
The pair have been recognized for their efforts on both ends of the field, with Havertz scoring five goals in three games this month, while Chalobah has helped us keep two clean sheets and also scored the opening goal away at Norwich City.
After being deployed up front by Thomas Tuchel, our silky German is possibly in the best form of his Chelsea career to date. He has six goals in eight games dating back to mid-February.
This month, he has scored in all three Premier League games he has played, including a brace in our 4-0 victory over Burnley and the late winner against Newcastle United, as well as setting up Mason Mount for our second away at Norwich. Since the start of last season, no player has scored more goals for the Blues.
The best of Havertz's five league goals in March, both in terms of technical execution and significance, came in the 89th minute of our 2-1 win over Newcastle, when he brought down Jorginho's pass and finished instinctively, almost all in one swift stunning movement. Tuchel praised his forward's confidence and composure afterward, calling it "an exceptional goal."
At Carrow Road, the 23-year-old scored late to secure a 3-1 victory with another left-footed strike, this time hammered into the top corner from 12 yards out. Havertz had been the talk of Turf Moor just a few days before with a quickfire double in Lancashire, the first a clever header at the back post and the second a predatory close-range finish from inside the six-yard box.
Chalobah also started in the Blues' 2-0 win over Burnley, keeping the Clarets at bay and securing another clean sheet on the road. In March, the defender played every minute of our league campaign and scored his fourth Chelsea goal , With a header against the Canaries, he became the first player to score away from Stamford Bridge.
He also had an assist in teeing up Reece James against Burnley earlier this month, while slotting in seamlessly in defense, even at right-back during the first half of the Newcastle game.
Havertz and Chalobah will face Aston Villa's Matty Cash, Tottenham's Harry Kane and Dejan Kulusevski, Liverpool's Andy Robertson, Arsenal's Bukayo Saka, and Ivan Toney (Brentford).
Voting is now open until 12 p.m. on Monday, March 28th, with the winner to be announced later that week.
