Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is now the top player in La Liga this season for Barcelona. The Gabonese striker, who recently joined Barcelona from Arsenal during the winter transfer window, is currently bringing back some old memories for Barcelona supporters.
Barcelona last participated in the administrations of an African player in 2009, which also happened to be Samuel Eto'o's final season with the Catalans. Eto'o's career, which began in 2004, has resulted in an incredible 170 goal commitments for the club.
Aubameyang had a straightforward start to his Barcelona career, as he proactively reached the 10-objective commitments mark in his first 11 games with the club. Many football experts have compared Aubameyang's administrations to those of Samuel Eto, and it's evident that the Gabonese coach is seeking to recreate what the retired Cameroonian striker did before.
Regardless, Aubameyang's performance is what is making Barcelona appear so good this year. Since joining the Spanish club in January, the Gabonese striker has yet to lose a match.
Xavi Hernandez, in particular, deserves credit for assisting Aubameyang in his development during his first three months at the club.
Aubameyang has had many scoring opportunities because to his clever going after setup, which has featured Ferran Torres and Adama Traore or Ousmane Dembele. In the game against Real Madrid, Aubameyang was ineffective, scoring only two goals despite the fact that he could have easily scored five.
Clearly, Xavi Hernandez believes that he should improve his transformation rate because it could cost them a lot of money in the future.
Aubameyang is unlikely to score as many goals as Samuel Eto'o did for Barcelona. This is due to the manner he is approaching retirement age, but the roars of delight from the Barcelona supporters each time he scores are enough to retain his name in the book of the best African players.
