The key to winning games in this league, like in any other, is to score goals. Several players have been able to assist their clubs this season with their goal-scoring abilities, with Mohamed Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo leading the way with their strikes.However, there have been certain players who have struggled to finish the season in the top half of the league. Mohammed Salisu, #5 (21 shots)
Mohammed Salisu, a Ghanaian central defender, joined Southampton from Real Valladolid in Spain in 2020 after impressing in La Liga. Since joining the Saints, the 22-year-old defender has shown to be a valuable asset, establishing himself as a staple in the back four under Ralph Hassenhuttl.Salisu has made 27 Premier League appearances for Southampton this season, appearing in all but two of their league games. The Ghanaian youth has been one of Southampton's best and most reliable defenders this season, but he has been found wanting on the offensive side of the ball.
Despite the fact that goalscoring is not part of his job description, it is expected that he will be able to contribute with goals when the opportunity arises. Salisu has attempted 21 shots in the league thus far this season, all of which have been unsuccessful.
