In fact, my brothers in the light of humanity, my brothers in the light of the soul, my brothers in the light of nationality and community, my brothers in the light of religion and my brothers in the light of Islam.
It is barely five months since our dear beloved town has being characterized by chaos under the influence of satan the cursed one. Inshaa Allah today we speak for the entirety of Bawku Muslim community through the benevolence of Ansarul Islam/ Mosque Building Committee of Bawku Central Mosque.
Ladies and gentlemen, We have earlier on resolved not to say a word regarding this tragic flaw but our conscience wouldn’t allow us to remain silent. It would in fact sound callous on our part to remain silent on this retrogressive development that has laid its ugliest hand on our dear beloved town. It’s our deepest conviction that, the dominants of our dear town are Muslims as such we have chosen to base our presentation purely on Qur’an and Sunnah. This is honestly the hardest decision but very necessary.
It’s unfortunate to note that, since the commencement of this heinous bizarre, we have incurred number of irreparable lost of lives and properties. Respected ones we are much aware of what Allah says in the noble Qur’an 4:32 ... concisely “
.....if anyone killed a person not in retaliation of murder, or (and) to spread mischief in the land - it would be as if he killed all mankind, and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind.....
The media, It is not a denying fact we are interrelated in this beautiful town of ours. This is a bare fact that not even an acid can erase it. This interrelation has engulfed every field of life, as in blood, tribe, religion and for that matter business transactions. As such we should note that killing one’s uncle or nephew is the greatest abomination and should be discarded to the back stage.
Respected ones and the Media, we the Muslims believe that the outmost respect for the prophet of honor Muhammad SAW is imitating his character, we found him to be tolerating, loving, caring just to mention but a few. He {Muhammad SAW} was reported to have said .... The best of work is being patient to anyone who has wronged you and also given out to any one who has denied you.
Allah again has spoken about the superiority .. Qur’an 49:13 “ O mankind; we have created you from male and female and made you into nations and tribes, that you know one another. Verily the most honorable one amongst you is the one with taqwa, conscious of your maker ....
Since the beginning of the conflict, we have recorded various degree of setbacks, it’s in fact a difficult transition in various fields of lives. Such as ;
1. Education
2. Business
3. Health
4. Trust
5. Tolerance and many more
Educationally, we gather intelligence from daily guides where the Municipal director of GES was reported to have said in an interview with tv3 “ I must admit that Teachers continue to besiege the offices of the GES to demand for re-posting to schools they feel safe and secured. There is no way they can be prevented since they require a safer and conducive working environment” Not less than 100 teachers have being released to other districts which has created a huge repercussion on Teaching and learning. The district currently is in a deficit of not less than 300 Teachers. We have to go through this all as a result of the gloomy and volatile security situation in the area.
The Muslim community of Bawku has organized series of Islamic special prayers to register our grievances to the Almighty for immediate intervention. Moreover , we thought it wise saying it louder to the hearing of the feuding factions. We can’t remain adamant on this tragic flaw, we all have to be ambassadors for peace in order to curtail the future of our current and future generations.
The field of health is not also an exception as health delivery is also in a porous state which needs absolute peace to reign to enhance a conducive environment. Displacement of people is also on the rise as many people flee to seek refuge elsewhere. Life is in fact unbearable.
It will interest you to know that, this very magnificent Muti million structure was not built on contract base, but rather the very lovely people of this beautiful town of ours, we have this achievable as a result of harmonious trust, love, faith and that sense of togetherness. Unfortunately we have lost all and the structure is now experiencing a chameleon walk.
We have by this golden opportunity call on all the feuding factions to seize fire and embrace peace and follow decorum way of addressing their issues. Respected people of Bawku, lets ponder on what is happening in Bawku by reflecting on the saying of Allah .. Qur’an 2:155-156 ...... 2:155 ... And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.).
Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: "Truly! To Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return."
It’s not a denying fact that, we are already on our bended knees when it comes to survival, most cannot provide the three square meal with ease. We are in fact poverty striking destitute. As a result the conflict rather added more injury to insult.

1. Government should ensure that it pays much attention to the good people of Bawku, cope with them and ensure a lasting solution to the problem at hand.
2. We also urge the Bawku inter-ethnic peace committee to bury their hatchets and embrace peace to ensure that peace reign in Bawku.
3. Our sister religion the Christians should also use any opportunity that comes their way to speak volume of what peace means and the need to embrace it.
4. The various handlers and operators of the social media platforms, both known and unknown should have the fears of Allah and note that on that indisputable day of accountability, we shall account for everything we do.
5. The media houses, both local and outside the town should make sure that they share only credible information and also ensure professionalism in their work.
6. We also use this golden opportunity to appeal to the government through the MUSEC, REGSEC and subsequently the minister of defense and interior to please consider reviewing the curfew to pave way for smooth running of Ramadan and its activities.
It’s by this we call on all the feuding factions to embrace peace such that the bad reputation given to the town will one day be recorded as one of the things of the past.
