The family of an 11-year-old boy, Peter Akakpo is seeking financial assistance to raise an amount of GH¢43,586 to enable him to undergo a bilateral total hip replacement surgery.
11-year-old Peter Akakpo has since May last year been suffering from pain around his hip area; after he fell during a football match in his neighbourhood.
He is reported to have complained of excruciating pain around the hip area when he got home.
His parents rushed him to a community hospital and upon several scans, he was referred for surgery at the Ridge Hospital, Accra.
Two weeks after the surgery, he complained of unbearable pains in the hip area. He was told it would get better, but did not improve with time.
His parents later took him to the FOCOS Orthopedic Hospital at Teshie, Accra.
After several scans, doctors concluded that he needed to be operated on urgently.
His parents are, however, struggling to raise the full amount of GH¢43,586.
Failure to undergo the surgery by April 18, 2022, will render young Peter Akakpo paralysed for life.
“We have tried all we can to raise the amount, and time is not on our side. We are pleading with benevolent individuals to come to our aid.”
“The fate of my young son depends on this. He has not been able to go to school since the incident. He is really suffering and will be rendered paralysed if we didn’t come through for him,” his mother, Mercy, Yomokpe said amidst tears.
