Today, 29th March, 2022 will remain a memorable day in the hearts and minds of Ghanaians as the E-levy has been passed by Parliament after the third reading in the House.
The Minority, over the weeks have been expressing their distress in the passing of the E-levy and were seen walking out of parliament during the second reading on the proposal.
They walked out after the Minority Leader leader in the person of Hon. Haruna Iddrisu said the NDC MPs remain united in opposing the E-levy policy.
He described the policy proposal as punitive and will further lead to “the high cost of doing business in the country.”
He said, “E-levy is the nuisance of nuisance tax,” adding that “businesses are suffering under your watch. We are united that we will not support E-levy, we will not vote for E-levy.”
The Finance Minister in the person of Hon. Ken Ofori-Attah on Tuesday, March 29 moved a motion for the passage of the E-levy in Parliament after he presented a statement on the E-levy in the House.
The motion was seconded by the Obuasi West MP Kwaku Kwarteng.
The E-levy also has it that you pay tax on all the transactions you perform in the year aside the 1.5%
Do you think the passing of the E-levy policy will help the economy of the country positively or it’s another scam for some people to enrich themselves?
