In the midst of summer transfer talks, Paulo Dybala's record makes Arsenal's decision even easier.

Arsenal has reportedly begun talks with Paulo Dybala's agent as Mikel Arteta seeks to bolster his striker options when the summer transfer window opens.

The latest striker to be linked with a move to Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window is Paulo Dybala. However, unlike potential deals for Darwin Nunez, Lautaro Martinez, or Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the Gunners stand to save millions of pounds by pursuing the Juventus star.

This is due to the fact that the 28-year-old will soon be a free agent after the Serie A giants withdrew their contract offer due to the Argentine's exorbitant wage demands. Tuttosport, an Italian news outlet, claims that the club needs to cut their wage bill after announcing a loss of more than £180 million for the 2020/21 season.

So, unless the two parties reach an agreement on a new contract, Dybala will leave Juventus when his contract expires at the end of June, and Arsenal is said to be one of the clubs hoping to take advantage of the situation.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the north London club has begun talks with Dybala's representatives in order to bring him to the Emirates Stadium. As a result, Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu appear to agree that the Argentina international could be the ideal summer signing.

However, one look at his injury record may be enough to change that opinion, as a detailed report of the forward's injury history, thanks to transfermarkt, does not make for very interesting reading. Throughout his career, he has struggled to stay fit on a consistent basis, and he has been unable to play in some crucial Juventus matches.

While the majority of Dybala's issues have been muscle and thigh-related, a medial collateral ligament injury last season cost him 18 games across all competitions. That is the most games he has missed in his career to date, which may worry Arsenal fans is that he has not managed to stay injury-free since the 2015/16 season.

Furthermore, Dybala's injuries have forced him to miss significant Champions League matches over the years, including the round of 16 second leg against Bayern Munich in March 2016 and last season's decider against Porto at the same stage.

When fully fit, Dybala would be a welcome addition to the Arsenal squad, and signing him on a free transfer could prove to be a wise move - as long as another striker arrives in north London, especially if both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah depart in the summer.

However, the fact that he has already missed 15 games this season due to injury shows that his injury issues are far from over the past. Pursuing a deal in the summer would be a huge risk on the Gunners' behalf and this factor could convince Arteta and Edu to look elsewhere in their search for a new striker.
