Zlatan Ibrahimovic does not want to'regret for the rest of his life' if he retires from football, therefore the Milan legend 'wants to play as long as possible.'

The 40-year-old Swedish forward has eight goals and two assists in 18 Serie A games for the Rossoneri this season, and he is a key member of the group both on and off the field. This season, he has dealt with both Achilles tendon and knee ailments, which has forced him to miss a lot of games.

Ibrahimovic spoke to UEFA on how his success and celebrity haven't made him forget his background.

"No matter what happens to me — success, money, celebrity, or whatever else - I will remain the same person." I'm not going to change. You either like me or you don't, but I wasn't put on this planet to persuade people to like me."

At the age of 40, he commented about how it feels to play in the Champions League with Milan.

"I play with a lot of feeling for Milan because it's a club that has given me happiness, a lot of things, and I believe I've spent the most years of any club I've ever represented." This season, it was great to be back in the UEFA Champions League with the club. Everyone was ecstatic and thrilled to be back after a couple of years of struggle and not being in the Champions League.

"I think this is a fantastic event." I scored a couple of goals that I appreciated, and I had the chance to play against some of Europe's finest clubs and players. What am I going to do now that I've never won it?

"There are two ways to look at it. It would be incredible to win. I wouldn't change as a player if I didn't win. If I win, it doesn't imply I'll be a better player because I'll already be the best. This has been demonstrated; the best player does not always win."

Finally, Ibrahimovic addressed the future and his retirement intentions.

"The future will be written as it unfolds. I have no intentions of doing so. Let's have a look at what transpires. I don't want to look back and regret not continuing to play football after learning that I could have."

"I'd like to keep playing for as long as possible." I'll keep playing till I see someone who is better than me, so I'll keep playing.

"I know it'll stop one day, and I won't have that rush of adrenaline." Because you have adrenaline while you play football, this is an issue for every football player. Because we are trained, you will never get that adrenaline by doing something else. The same thing happens every day.

"Every day, we get up, prepare, train, eat, and sleep. It's the same the next day. You do these things for 20 years, and they give you adrenaline. "So when you suddenly stop, you don't have this agenda, and you don't get the adrenaline." When it comes to a halt, you must restart from the beginning."

Ibrahimovic, who left LA Galaxy on a free transfer in January 2020, returns to Milan. He scored 17 goals and added three assists in 27 games for the Rossoneri last season, underlining his worth to coach Stefano Pioli.
