As the Argentine prepares to leave Juventus after seven years in Turin, reports claim that Dybala has picked Atletico Madrid as his next club.
The club has snubbed Dybala's request for a new contract, and he will hand over the captain's armband and number 10 shirt when his current contract expires this summer. Because of the signing of Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina in the January transfer window, his status in Maximiliano Allegri's team has deteriorated. According to Mundo Deportivo, Atletico Madrid is leading the race to sign the 28-year-old. Atletico Madrid reportedly tried to sign him a few years ago, but Juventus refused to sell the Argentine then.
Diego Simeone is anxious to recruit him and reinforce his attacking ranks this summer in his search for a long-term successor for Luis Suarez, given that he is back on the market.
Rodrigo de Paul, an Argentine midfielder, is said to be doing everything possible to persuade his international team-mate to relocate to Madrid.
Dybala has had a fantastic season, scoring 13 goals and assisting six times in 29 games in all competitions.
Inter Milan, Juventus' bitter rivals, are said to be ready to offer Dybala a five-year contract, according to reports in Italy earlier this month.
Mundo Deportivo, on the other hand, claims that Lautaro Martinez will have to be sold in order for them to get Dybala in.
Martinez is also wanted by Atletico Madrid, but they are unwilling to pay the €70 million (£60 million) transfer fee required to get him out of the San Siro.
Martinez has strong ties to Atletico Madrid and even had a medical there before joining Inter Milan in 2018.
