AC Milan have reportedly set their sights on Real Madrid outcast Gareth Bale in the summer for a possible Bosman deal.

According to famous Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, AC Milan is interested in signing Gareth Bale on a Bosman deal during the summer transfer window. The Serie A heavyweights have reached out to the Real Madrid outcast's representatives to discuss his wage demands.

Gareth Bale's career is at a fork in the road, as he transitions from a key player for Real Madrid to an afterthought. The Welshman formerly led Los Blancos to the UEFA Champions League trophy, but his stock has dropped significantly in recent years, with a loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur not helping matters.

This season, the 32-year-old has had his worst season as a Real Madrid player, with only 270 minutes of game time across five appearances and one goal. Bale's contract with Real Madrid expires in the summer transfer window, and it seems certain that he will leave as a free agent. With AC Milan interested in signing him, the Welsh forward's next destination could be Serie A.

In the summer transfer window, AC Milan will look for attacking reinforcements, with the right-wing berth being a top priority. That's because Samu Castillejo is expected to leave San Siro before the 2022/23 season, leaving Junior Messi and Alexis Saelemaekers as Stefano Pioli's only two alternatives.
