Bread prices are projected to rise on the market as bakers protest about rising ingredient costs. According to them, wheat and sugar prices have skyrocketed, necessitating the planned hike.

The Bakers Association claims that the increase is required to keep them in business.  According to the bakeries, the price of a loaf of bread would increase from 6 to 8 cedis on April 2nd.

Ingredients such as margarine, egg, and salt, they claim, have seen market prices rise as they fear that any delay in boosting their goods will cause their firms to fail.

Meanwhile, when prices are raised, several bakeries complain about decreased sales. They claim that a recent gasoline price increase has already forced them out of business.
