According to The Daily Mail, Aston Villa are planning an audacious bid for Manchester United target Kalvin Phillips.

The midfielder from Leeds United is in high demand at the moment and has been linked with a number of clubs.

Manchester United are said to be major admirers of the 26-year-old, but a move to Old Trafford is considered as 'impossible' because to their rivalry with Leeds United, according to the Daily Mail.

According to the Daily Mail, both West Ham United and Newcastle United are interested in signing the midfield dynamo.

According to talkSPORT, the Hammers had a hefty £50 million bid for the England international denied down in January. According to The Daily Mail, Aston Villa are presently leading the race for Phillips' signature, with the Lions willing to pay £60 million for his talents.

Steven Gerrard is anxious to improve his midfield options and tried unsuccessfully to recruit Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma in January.

For the summer, though, the Liverpool icon has turned his attention to his fellow countryman Kalvin Phillips.

Phillips has battled injuries this season, and Leeds United has suffered without him since Marcelo Bielsa was fired owing to the team's dismal play. Due to a hamstring injury, Phillips has only made 12 Premier League games so far this season.

The 26-year-old is under contract at Elland Road until the summer of 2024, although he might go before then.

According to The Daily Mail, new Leeds boss Jesse Marsch has indicated his aim to keep Phillips, Patrick Bamdord, and Raphinha for 'as long as feasible.'

He will, however, be aware that maintaining either Phillips or Raphinha beyond the summer will be difficult, particularly if they fail to avoid relegation.

Aston Villa and Manchester United both want midfield reinforcements.

In the middle of the park, both Manchester United and Aston Villa could use a player like Kalvin Phillips.

For a long time, the Red Devils have lacked both quality and depth in midfield, and things could get even worse with Paul Pogba's contract scheduled to expire this summer.

Aston Villa, on the other hand, is still figuring out how to play under new manager Steven Gerrard and could need some help in the midfield.
