E-LEVY: FIVE SIMPLE WAYS TO AVOID PAYING E-LEVY

featured img

The electronic transaction levy 2021 was presented to Parliament by the Finance Minister in his bid to expand revenue generation and to bridge the gap of a few people overburdened by taxes.

It was passed into an act and assented by President Akufo-Addo this week and expected to commence on May 1st, despite the fierce resistance by the minority and the Ghanaian populace at large.

We bring to you some very simple ways to avoid paying after all we are been told it is not compulsory.

- Register a new SIM card in your name for your father and mother in the village and anytime you want to remit money to them you send it through, because transfers between same account holders are exempt from the charges.

- You can let anyone who wishes to transfer money in excess of GH¢ 100 to withdraw it from my account at the nearest agent while you approve it my convenience. (Be very sure they input the right amount).

- Vodafone charges nothing from using their system but may only charge the levy so you could use their service.

- Withdrawal of cash from Vodafone is straight forward, requiring the withdrawer to complete their procedure on their own. Only for the agent to give you the money after receiving the alert, so you may tell anybody you're sending money to go the nearest agent while you do the withdrawal for them to be able to receive it.

5. Divide whatever amount you wish to send someone as in Gh¢ 100 into two/three or at a go at Gh¢ 99.
