Foreign objects like as condoms, sanitary pads, and the remnants of aborted fetuses are causing damage to the Mudor Waste Water Treatment Plant's machineries, according to engineers.

Despite the fact that the factory is designed to process liquid waste, the feces collected is becoming known for containing additional solid waste items that are hurting the machinery.

Sewerage Systems Ghana Limited (SSGL) is now operating the facility in Lavender Hill, near James Town in Accra.

The Jospong Group of Companies' subsidiary SSGL collects and handles faecal matter generated in the nation's capital.

Lavender Hill's sewage treatment systems are being harmed by condoms and aborted newborns.

Foreign elements in sewage brought for treatment have flooded the facility.

"We find aborted infants, sanitary pads, condoms, even blankets," says Eric Amofa-Sarkodie, Head of Processing and Engineering at Sewage Systems Limited. All of these items end up at our facility because individuals leave them there."

Lavender Hill's sewage treatment systems are being harmed by condoms and aborted newborns.

"It costs us as much as GH25,000 to take the solid trash away from the treatment plant," Mr. Amofa-Sarkodie told JoyNews during a visit of the facility by Local Government Minister Dan Botwe on Friday.

During the treatment procedure, feces and other foreign items, such as condoms, are exposed.
