The Hum and Urban Missions (HUM) Leadership of Ho Area under the auspices of Apostle Dr. Dela Quampah, Ho Area held capacity building for all Ministers and HUM District coordinators at Bankoe Central on 26th March 2022.
This training was expedient to re-orient and re-echo the core mandate of HUM and out line some success stories since its inception as a ministry.
Speaking at the training program, Pastor Emerald Agbenyefia out lined the objectives of the Ministry in line with the overall agenda of Possessing the Nations and mentioned the various blocs that serve as the focal points HUM’s activities.
“The gospel message of our Lord Jesus Christ is meant for all including all excluding none” and “we have been carefully selected by God to represent and partner with Him in this souls searching and souls winning agenda”. These he said when he was stressing on the essence of the Ministry. One objective of HUM in relation to prostitutes, destitute and drug addicts he said, is to change their attention on their physical needs to their spiritual need; their souls need Christ.
Statistically, the Church of Pentecost has 142 HUM Assemblies, 6 Nursery Ghetto Assemblies, 6 Fulani Home Cells and a Chinese Assembly. He again mentioned that out of the 9 French Assemblies opened by HUM, 4 of them are in Ho Area. The church has established school of Fulani Ministry to train Fulani converts to become church planters after going through a structured discipleship training.
Cnslr. Ivy Dumahasi, a Counseling psychologist made an emphatical statement in her presentation on drug addiction that “We are social beings and depends on each other”. She enumerated on the causes of drug addictions and its effects on the individual, family, community and the Church. She concluded by touching on ways to present the gospel to drug addicts.
Mrs. Gloria Ahenkrah, a Mental Health Nurse from the Ho Teaching Hospital gave a presentation on the misconceptions of mental illness, causes of mental illness and how to present the gospel of Jesus Christ to them.
The program was very interactive and participatory. A focus group discussion was formed with rapporteurs to present a summary of their discussions on various topic ranging from how to present the gospel to the destitute, prostitute, how to defuse misconception on prison convicts after serving their jail term as well as what participants are going to do after the program.
This program was held in Kpetoe and Kpedze Zones with other HUM Coordinators manning the program with resourced professions within the Area with a total of 79 participants.
