The damage to Ralf Rangnick's side could have been even worse, as the video assistant referee sent referee Andre Marriner to the screen 10 minutes from time, overturning James Maddison's effort for a foul on Raphael Varane in the build-up. 

United can consider themselves fortunate to have earned a point. 

Kelechi Iheanacho scored a fantastic 63rd-minute breakthrough when he met James Maddison's left-wing cross with a fine diving header that put the ball back into the far corner after a dull opening quarter. 

The Foxes' lead lasted just three minutes, with Brazilian midfielder Fred on hand to score the rebound after Kasper Schmeichel had pushed Bruno Fernandes' attempt into his path. 

The result was unfortunate for the hosts, who are currently three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal after two games, with a trip to Arsenal, as well as matches against Liverpool and Chelsea, still to come.
