Two Regulatory Audit Units have been formed by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC).

This was revealed by Dr Ishmael Ackah, the Commission's Executive Secretary, during a two-day workshop for Social Accountability Actors on the country's Electricity Tariff Setting Process.

These Regulatory Audit Units, according to Dr. Ackah, will, among other things, monitor the quality of service provided by public utilities and create a platform for utilities to independently check data presented.

It will also provide regulatory audit procedures for all public utilities, as well as a framework to monitor declared capacity, assure consistent benchmarks, and utility performance.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), WAEP, the Africa Development Bank, and PURC collaborated to host the event.
