After the Black Stars were drawn against Uruguay in the Qatar 2022 World Cup draw on Friday, Ghanaians took to social media to vent their feelings.
In Group H, Otto Addo’s team will face the South Americans, as well as Portugal and South Korea.
Following the draw, some Ghanaians rushed to Twitter to express their feelings at being pitted against the Uruguayans.
The Black Stars were on the verge of becoming the first African team to reach the quarterfinals of the quadrennial extravaganza before succumbing to Uruguay on penalties.
The humiliation was compounded by the fact that Ghana had a penalty in the last seconds of extra time after Luis Suarez used his hand to deflect a ball.
Despite the fact that Suarez was sent off for his unsporting behavior and Ghana was awarded a penalty, Asamoah Gyan missed the penalty kick.
Uruguay finally won the game 4-2 on penalties, advancing to the World Cup semi-finals at the cost of Ghana.
Following the current World Cup draw, numerous Ghanaians have expressed their desire to exact vengeance on Suarez and Uruguay.
