Inaki Williams of Athletic Bilbao has stoked rumours about playing for Ghana in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

From multiple sources, the veteran and his younger sibling Nico Williams would switch allegiances to represent Ghana during the November-December 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The prolific striker liked a tweet from the senior national team of Ghana’s official Twitter account on the 2022 FIFA World Cup draw.

For Inaki Williams, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) approached him about switching nationalities to represent the four-time Africa Cup of Nations winners, but he believed it was disrespectful to people born in Ghana.

Born in Spain to Ghanaian parents, the tandem has long been a target for the four-time Africa Cup of Nations champions.

The 27-year-old centre-forward announced his choice to join Ghana alongside his younger brother, Nico Williams when Ghana qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

In 331 games with Athletic Bilbao, the 27-year-old forward has 74 goals and 44 assists.

Despite playing 30 minutes for Spain against Bosnia Herzegovina in 2016, he is eligible to represent Ghana at the senior level.
