Barcelona returned to La Liga play 14 days after defeating Real Madrid 4-0. The Catalans hosted Sevilla in front of a sold-out Camp Nou in an electrifying atmosphere.

A victory against Lopetegui's team would tie the hosts on points with Sevilla, although with a game in hand. Xavi chose a lineup identical to the one that faced Los Blancos.

On the night, the only alterations were the return of Dani Alves at right-back and Ronald Araujo at center defense.

In the second minute, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique collided, setting the tone for the game. The captain appeared to be in excruciating pain, and one expected the veteran to be replaced. However, prompt medical intervention secures his survival.

Following there came a tedious period of football in which neither team created any clear opportunities. Both sides pushed each other to the utmost but were unable to break through the defense.

The Blaugranas created their next major chance only in the 44th minute. Pedri sent a fantastic pass into Dembele's path, which he then headed towards Aubameyang. Only a Jules Kounde interception kept the hosts from scoring first. Bono brilliantly denied the Gabonese attacker again a minute later.

Lamela's low shot at ter Stegen gave Sevilla off to a fast start in the second quarter. The German international, on the other hand, had easy pickings.

Pedri made a daring effort in the 51st minute, slipping past three Sevilla men, only to be blocked by Diego Carlos.

Barcelona, irritated with the opponents' defense, increased their attack after the hour mark.

Ferran Torres headed Dembele's cross over the crossbar in the 63rd minute. Immediately after, the visitor's goalkeeper stopped Araujo's header before duplicating the feat against Torres' effort in the 65th minute.

The game heated up as Sevilla had a few opportunities of their own. The game-winning goal came in the 72nd minute, thanks to an incredible Pedri goal. On the edge of the box, the youngster kept his cool as he carefully worked his way past the Sevillan defense. He then delivered a strong hit to a defenseless Bono.

After a tedious 15 minutes, the visitors were unable to re-enter the game. Rafa Mir's attempt was stopped in the 92nd minute, and Barcelona prevailed in a thrilling match.
