Barcelona moved up to second in LaLiga with a 1-0 win over Sevilla at Camp Nou on Sunday, thanks to Pedri's goal.
Pedri's goal with just under 20 minutes remaining was a well-taken effort that proved enough to secure the points for Xavi's side.
Julen Lopetegui's Sevilla fell to fourth place after defending well for long stretches but offering little offensively.
The result also means that Real Madrid will end the weekend with a 12-point lead at the top of the table following their Saturday victory over Celta Vigo.
Barca had the better start, with Ferran Torres and Frenkie de Jong both going close early on, but Yassine Bounou's first save of the game came in first-half stoppage time, when he palmed away a shot from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang following a lovely cross from Ousmane Dembele.
In the second half, Sevilla showed greater determination and got their first shot on goal when Erik Lamela was unable to beat Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
In the second half, the hosts did not have a shot until just after the hour mark, when Torres forced Bounou to tip over a Dembele pull-back, and Gerard Pique hit the crossbar with a header from a corner shortly after.
In the 72nd minute, the stalemate was finally broken when Dembele set up Pedri on the outside of the box, with the youngster brilliantly moving the ball onto his right foot before blasting a shot beyond Bounou's desperate dive.
