THE 10,885 KM ROADS CONSTRUCTED
1. We have 16 Regions with Accra as the capital of Ghana. I shall use Accra as the center from where other roads must link.
2. The distance between Accra and Kumasi is 248.3 Km
3. Accra to Takoradi = 226.3 km
4. Accra to Koforidua is just about 77.4 km
5. Ho to Accra = 192.3 km
6. Tamale to Accra gives us 613.4 km
7. Accra to Bolgatanga = 776km
8. Accra to Wa = 696.1 km
9. Sunyani to Accra = 369km
10. Cape Coast to Accra = 147km
11. Accra to Dambai = 340.7 km
12.Techiman to Accra =380.7km
13.Damongo to Accra =619.7 km
14.Accra to Goaso = 386.7 km
15.Sefwi Wiaso to Accra =399.4km
•16.Nalerigu to Accra = 658.2km
All these put together will give us 6,133.4 Kilometers of roads.
Note that this calculation did not consider subtracting Accra to Cape Coast from the distance of Takoradi and Sefwi Wiaso. And same was not done to all other regional capitals.
So, one would think that if we have built, resurface or asphalted 10,875 kilometers of total roads, then, Accra to Ho should not be in its present state. Accra to Peki through Koleonu to Hohoe should not be aborting pregnancies.
The lest talk about the life-threatening nature of the Easting Corridor Road, the better.
Which are the roads we are talking about? There can’t be roads as important as those linking the nation to the capital city.
Are we talking about potholes driven Sawla to Wa road or Wa to Bolgatanga? Sunyani to Kumasi or Obuasi to Takoradi? Where?
This is however not suggesting that there are no road works. I have seen asphalt works on inner city roads.
We are better focusing on trunk roads than beautifying Ayawaso West Wougon roads with overlay asphalts while we patch Asikuma to Ho road.
I can tell you that the road in the pictures have not seen any equipment since June 2017 when the President visited Hohoe with Minister Amoako Atta.
