Police in Kenya’s Nakuru county have arrested a 53-year-old man for slaughtering a 35-year-old secret lover of his wife after catching them red-handed having sex in his house.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) of the National Police Service disclosed this on its Facebook page on Friday, April 1.

In the statement by the DCI, it said Edwin Komen was hacked to death on Thursday, March 31, at 2 pm at Ukwala in Keringet, Kuresoi South sub-county.

The directorate explained that the unnamed husband returned home only to find the deceased and his wife engrossed in a sex romp.

He became angry and could not control his temper, so he reached for a huge machete with which he hacked the deceased rival’s head three times, leading to his death on the spot.
The DCI said that the suspect, who is currently in the custody of Keringet Police Station, would be arraigned to answer for the bloody act.

A 35-year-old man lost his life yesterday after he was found pants down with another man’s wife.

"In an incident that left villagers of Ukwala in Keringet, Kuresoi South Sub-county shocked, Edwin Komen, met his death in the most unlikely manner, at around 2pm yesterday.

"Earlier, Komen had been ushered into the man’s house by his wife where they were having the time of their lives, before they were busted by the woman’s husband.

In a fit of rage, the 53-year-old man reached for a machete and descended on the besieged young man mercilessly hacking his head three times, killing him on the spot.

"In the ensuing melee, the woman fled the scene to nearby farms and hasn’t been seen again," the DCI statement said.

It added that the incident left residents of the area in a state of trauma.

"Villagers who heard the commotion thronged the homestead to have a glimpse of the scene, never witnessed in the characteristic quiet Ukwala village. Women chanted incantations while holding their heads, as curious children pushed and shoved from the periphery, to have a glimpse of what was happening.

Meanwhile, the area chief, Peter Langat, who described the incident as unfortunate, entreated the villagers not to take the law into their own hands in such circumstances.
