The controversial documentary that culminated in Kwesi Nyantakyi's suspension from football, according to Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, reduced Ghana football to its knees.
FIFA imposed a lifetime ban on Nyantakyi, but the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) lowered it to 15 years after the former Ghana Football Association president filed an appeal.
For violating Fifa's ethics code, the former FIFA Executive Council member was fined CHF 500,000.
After an inquiry by the Ethics Committee of international football's governing body, he was found guilty of infringing Fifa regulations relating to conflicts of interest, bribery and corruption, and commission.
This followed the release of a documentary named Number 12 by Ghanaian investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, in which Nyantakyi was caught receiving a $65,000 bribe.
"We brought down Ghana football when we were able to bring down Kwesi Nyantakyi," Bagbin stated, adding, "That's one of the shining points at FIFA."
"When I told the FIFA Executives that I was the Speaker of Ghana's Parliament, they asked, 'What happened?' Why did you do that, you people?
"He was a great addition to the team. The value he brought to their meetings. He was well-liked, well-respected, and Ghana's football was among the best in the world. We assumed we were dealing with Nyantakyi, but we didn't realize we were dealing with the entire country of Ghana."
According to Mr. Bagbin, there are requests for Nyantakyi to be reinstated by the administration.
"People are pleading with the government to pardon Nyantakyi and bring him back to help," he said.
He commended Otto Addo's technical team and the players' fighting spirit for Ghana's recent triumph in qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup at the expense of Nigeria.
"Because of the new technical team that we put in place, we were able to achieve wonders in Nigeria," he stated.
"We were able to gather future potential young athletes who were willing to die for Ghana."

"I guarantee you, if we keep this team for a while, it won't just be FIFA games (World Cup) we'll be playing; Ghana will be back up there."
The WA-based Real Crusaders Ladies FC received footballs, football boots, and a set of jerseys from the Speaker over the weekend.
