The safety patrols are also supposed to facilitate the sharing of crime-related information between the police and the community, as well as help eliminate antisocial behaviors that affect people and communities, according to the Ahafo police command.

For the initial phase of the patrols, 60 police officers from the region's Regional, Divisional, and District commands have been assigned to the task.

At the briefing, Deputy Regional Commander DCOP David Eklu instructed the officers to maintain a high degree of professionalism in all parts of their work in order to attain the stated goal.

He emphasized the importance of cops establishing trust and public confidence, as well as reducing community fear of crime, because they are often the first point of contact when it comes to crime and safety.
