Paul Pogba may be better off leaving Manchester United, according to Wayne Rooney.
With his contract with the Premier League club set to expire in the summer, the 29-year-future old's is uncertain.
Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), and Juventus, according to SkySports, have contacted his representatives about a possible transfer.
Pogba's departure from United, according to Rooney, may be for the best. According to the ex-Manchester United striker, the Frenchman has not lived up to expectations.
"I believe it's probably reached to a point now where I think it's probably best for him to move on now," Rooney told SkySports. If Paul is being honest with himself, I don't think he's had the influence he'd like since his return to Manchester United."
Pogba is a key member of France's national squad, having played a key role in the country's 2018 World Cup victory.
Rooney believes he is an entirely different player for his nation, stating, "I see him play for France and he's a completely different player." France has the ability, vision, and control of the game in every game. It just hasn't worked out for him at Manchester United, and I believe there are a few reasons for it.
When asked why he thought Pogba hadn't had the impact on the United team that many had expected when he returned in 2015, the current Derby County manager said he didn't feel he had.
During his career at the club, Pogba has played under current interim manager Ralf Rangnick, caretaker Michael Carrick, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Jose Mourinho.
Why things haven't gone so well for the Frenchman at Manchester United, according to Rooney, is due to a lack of a stable boss.
Rooneysaid:
"Since Sir Alex Ferguson, there hasn't been a permanent manager in charge. Whoever comes in, I believe they should give them time. Allow them time to develop relationships with players."
Pogba has had a turbulent relationship with former managers, most notably Jose Mourinho, with whom he had an infamous spat.
In a recent interview with Le Figaro, the former Juventus midfielder said that he didn't know if he had a position at the club as a result of the managerial change, saying:
"With France, it's simple: I play and I play in my position — I know my role and I have the coach's and players' trust. It's natural to notice differences at Manchester United since it's difficult to maintain consistency when your position, team system, or partners are frequently changed."
