RUSSIA HAS DROPPED ITS LEGAL BATTLE AGAINST FIFA

Russia has dropped its legal battle against FIFA for the 2022 World Cup.

Russia was slated to play Poland in a World Cup qualifying play-off semi-final, but the Poles were given a bye and went on to win Sweden, advancing to the finals on November 21.

The time now is 22:56:58 IST on April 5, 2022.The Russian football federation has decided not to challenge FIFA's World Cup ban, which was imposed following the invasion of Ukraine, according to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

 

Russia was slated to play Poland in a World Cup qualifying play-off semi-final, but the Poles were given a bye and went on to win Sweden, advancing to the finals on November 21.

 

"The process will be completed soon," stated CAS, which refused to reverse the ban on March 18.

 

The Russian Federation said that it would appeal UEFA's decision to exclude Russian clubs from continental competitions.

 

The CAS has stated that it will not lift the UEFA ban on Russian clubs and has yet to set a date for a definitive decision.
