Suame Member of Parliament, Minister for Parliamentary Business and Majority leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has sent a strong message to John Dramani Mahama, Former President of Ghana.
Speaking on the State of the nation address by President Akufo-Addo a week ago in Parliament, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu raised concern at the level of continuous absenteeism on the side of the 2020 flagbearer and Former President when it comes to national events that takes place in Parliament.
He reveals that since the former President handed over power in 2017, he has continuosly missed all the State of the Nation Address of President Akufo-Addo.
"Conspicuously missing was during the State of the nation address was John Mahama. That certainly is not a good account of the immediate past President and former Presidential Candidate.
Nana Akufo-Addo didn't attend the State of the nation presented by John Mahama in 2013 because NPP at the time was challenging the legitimacy of the President. We in Parliament also boycotted the 2013 events accordingly.
But it is worth commending the former President John Agyekum Kuffour attended the state of the nation address and swearing-in of President John Mahama in 2013 in his capacity as Former President".
President Akufo-Addo in fulfilling a constitutional requirement presented to Parliament the state of the nation address last week after several calls for him to present.
