Counsel for the embattled Assin North Member of Parliament, Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata has objected to a decision made by the seven member panel in the dual citizenship case involving James Gyakyie Quayson.

A seven member panel presided over by Jones Dotse and including Nene Amegatcher, Prof. Henrietta Mensah Bonsu, Gertrude Torkono, Agnes Dordzie, Mariama Owusu and  Emmanuel Kulendi announced that they will be giving a ruling on whether or not James Quayson can perform his parliamentary duties as Member of Parliament for Assin North. This is in response to an application brought by Mr. Nimfah.

Objecting the decision by the justices of the apex court, counsel for defendant, Tsatsu Tsikata said,

"This is a court of Justice. We have a preliminary objection. Your Lordships can decide anyway you want, but I want to be on record that we have the right to be heard.

My Lordship cannot just say enough of all this. Enough of this law? Enough of authorities? Enough of what binds us? Enough of justice?  It is all so within the right of counsel to have on record why he believes it will be prejudiced if proceedings are handled this way".

The Assin North Member of Parliament has been in court since his election for failing to comply with the laws governing the electoral process.

A Cape Coast high court ruled that the results of the Assin North Parliamentary elections be annulled and an order for a fresh elections to be held.
