Ruling New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for the New Juaben South constituency and Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Michael Okyere Baafi has called on Adwoa Safo to resign. He opines the conduct of the Dome-Kwabenya lawmaker is distasteful and the only right thing for her to do is to resign.
Michael Okyere Baafi who is also a member of the privileges committee of Parliament said the majority might be forced to take a crucial decision on her conduct.
Speaking to Media General's Parliamentary correspondent, Komla Klutse, the MP said "For me, she has has not conducted herself well".
"And her political ratings now automatically will drop because people are dissatisfied, especially the majority caucus".
"And so I think she should take the decision and shouldn't wait for any person in leadership or caucus to file a motion for her to be expelled from the party or be pushed out"
Adwoa Safo, Henry Quartey and Kennedy Agyapong have been referred to the privileges committee of Parliament for absenting themselves for fifteen sittings without writing to the Speaker.
The NDC leadership of the house have described the decision as a unilateral decision of the Speaker which will become a tool for a "dictator speaker" to hurt MPs in the future.
He avers the decision by the Speaker will become a precedent if allowed to stand and may become dangerous.
Adwoa Safo has been away from her Ministry and constituency for a while. Reasons given earlier for her absence were her demanding to be reinstated as deputy majority leader.
It is also widely published that she is taking care of her daughter who is receiving medical care in the United States of America.
