The Vice President and the Head of Ghana's Economic Planning Committee,Dr Mahamud Bawumia speaks on the state of the Ghana's economy at Kasoa Millennium City later today.
The veep will highlight the current state of the Ghanaian economy as Ghanaian's complain of the hight cost of commodities in the country,the worst in the history of Ghana.The price of fuels,cements,iron rods and rentals have shoot to the extreme.
In 2016,the then incumbent ruling government made a lot of promises to the poor Ghanaians,and till now most Ghanaians have seen it to be a blow in their faces.
"When the fundamentals are weak,the exchange rate would expose you"said by the Veep in 2016 when asked about the state of the economy under the regime of John Dramani Mahama.Ghanaians are asking "Is the fundamentals still weak" or what's happening to the economy.
In 2016,the Akuffo Addo-Bawumia led government promised Ghanaians
1.Access to portable water
2.Every Ghanaian shall have a Bank Account by the end of 2018.
3.$1m per constituency
4.1 district 1 factory project
5.Cut of taxes and improve road construction,and many more in their campaign manifesto.
Nothing of that sort has been seen as I interviewed many Ghanaians on the fulfillment of the President's campaign promises in 2020
The now Veep criticized the former president John Mahama of poor management of the economy,but as of 2016,the price of a gallon of fuel was ghs14,but now ghs60,Cement was ghs38 now ghs60.
The introduction of E-levy is also an alarming challenge for most Ghanaians,as taxes are going to be issued on their daily online activities.But interviewed on BBC,The President said "The economy is doing well,and all countries are suffering with their economy because of Covid and Russia-Ukraine war".He also said that "The E-levy is meant to task industry not individuals".
Ghanaians expects nothing but the true state of Ghana's economy.Some are of the high assurance that the Veep will say nothing but the truth as it marks in Ramadan,where every Muslim is expected to speak the truth at all times.
