Stephanie Sullivan, the departing US Ambassador to Ghana, has been awarded the Grand Medal of Ghana for her extraordinary contribution to Ghana's democracy and prosperity.
Mrs. Sullivan, who is departing Ghana after a four-year stint as ambassador and head of the US mission, was hailed for her role in ensuring a peaceful election in 2020, women's empowerment, and educational possibilities for certain Ghanaians.
Her role in facilitating the delivery of Covid-19 vaccinations to Ghana also helped to her receiving the prize.
President Akufo Addo singled her out for the strengthening of Ghana's ties with the United States at a goodbye banquet in her honor.
An emotional experience Mrs Stephanie Sullivan stated that the US government will continue to assist Ghana in meeting its requirements, notably in the health sector.
She stated that improving security in the sub-region will be a top concern.
